José Luis Pardo, also known as Cheo Dj Afro also known as the distinguished guitarist founder of Los Amigos Invisibles, has long admired the work of his Venezuelan compatriot Ulises Hadjis; Both developed a great friendship which took root when they collaborated on tribute to the legendary Colombian Latin Alternative pioneers Aterciopelados.
The 2 friends had thought of collaborating further, but it was only after a social get together in Brooklyn where they sang duet songs in front of stunned friends, when the seed was planted to make a record together.
According to Cheo- "I had never had intentions to singon a record, I have never seen myself as someone capable of singing, but Ulysses encouraged me as a father encourages his son to jump off a trampoline."
After leaving Venezuela- Ulises Hadjis has developed his solo career from Mexico City, achieving 3 Latin Grammy nominations and an extensive touring scheduled in Latin America which has him positioned as one of the most striking emerging singer-songwriters within the independent Latin American scene.
For his part, after his departure from Los Amigos Invisibles, Cheo has dedicated much of his time to his DJ career, to his band Los Crema Paraíso and to producing other artists such as Rawayana, Camila Luna and Yordano, among others.
"Aquí Vinimos" is the first single released by
Cheo & Ulises Hadjis and will be featured in the big budget Mexican film "El Que Busca Encontrar" by director Pedro Ibarra also currently out.
